Introduction
This site is intended to help you learn more about incorporating information literacy concepts and skills in your teaching. In addition to linking you to nationally accepted and state mandated standards that guide information literacy teaching, I have provided links, through the tabs above, to other national and local resouces that can assist you in this endeavor.
Standards
- Standards for the 21st-Century Learner These standards were established in 2007 by the American Association of School Librarians. In addition to information literacy standards, they also include digital, visual, textual, and technological standards. Links to full text are provided on the site.
- Illinois Learning Standards As established by the Illinois State Board of Education, Goal 5 of the English Language Arts standards addresses how to "use the language arts to acquire, assess and communicate information."
